Harnessing the Sun: The Advanced Energy Transformation in Bomaderry
As of late 2025, this house in Bomaderry stands as a benchmark for residential sustainability. The property has undergone a significant energy overhaul, transitioning from a standard setup to a high-capacity, "all-electric" ready powerhouse.
By combining a massive solar array with cutting-edge Sigenergy storage technology, this home is now capable of near-total energy independence. Here is a breakdown of the new system specifications and what they mean for the home's performance.
1. Massive 14.36kW Solar PV Array
The solar capacity has been significantly expanded to a total of 14.36kW.
High Yield: This oversized array ensures that even on cloudy days or during the shorter days of winter, the system generates enough power to run the household and charge the massive battery bank simultaneously.
Future-Proofing: 14.36kW provides more than enough energy to support high-draw appliances like ducted air conditioning and electric vehicle (EV) charging.
2. 48.4kWh Sigenergy Storage System
The heart of this upgrade is the 48.4kWh Sigenergy battery stack. To put this in perspective, the average Australian home uses roughly 15–20kWh per day. This property can potentially run entirely off-grid if the sun is shining.
Sigenergy Innovation: Known for its "5-in-1" energy storage integration, this system combines the battery, inverter, and control systems into a sleek, modular stack.
Energy Security: With 48.4kWh of storage, the home is virtually immune to grid blackouts, providing seamless backup power for the entire residence.
3. 25kW Three-Phase Inverter
To manage this massive amount of power, a 25kW Three-Phase Inverter has been installed.
Efficiency: A three-phase system distributes electricity more evenly across the home's wiring, reducing the risk of voltage drops and allowing for the simultaneous use of heavy machinery or multiple high-load appliances.
Fast Charging: This high-capacity inverter allows the batteries to charge and discharge rapidly, ensuring the system can keep up with sudden spikes in demand.
4. DC Optimisers: Beating the Shade
A common challenge was the shading caused by the chimney and surrounding trees.
The Solution: The installation of DC Optimisers on affected panels.
How it Works: In a traditional system, one shaded panel can "bottleneck" the entire string, reducing total output. Optimisers allow each panel to work independently. If the chimney shades two panels, the rest of the 14.36kW array continues to perform at 100% efficiency.
Summary of Benefits
Zero-Dollar Bills: With a 14.36kW array and 48.4kWh of storage, the home is designed to export excess power during the day and rely entirely on stored energy at night.
Environmental Impact: This system offsets approximately 10–12 tonnes of CO2 annually.
Smart Management: Residents can track production and storage in real-time via the Sigenergy MySigen App.

Elevating Energy: Our Mount Scanzi Residential Solar & Rewiring Project
In the heart of Mount Scanzi, NSW, we recently completed a comprehensive electrical and solar transformation. This project was a masterclass in adapting clean energy infrastructure to meet the evolving needs of a property as it transitioned from a simple outbuilding setup to a fully realized architectural residence.
Solar Evolution: From Shed to Sanctuary
When the new house was constructed, the original solar PV array—previously installed on the shed—needed a new home that matched the property’s increased energy profile.
Removal & Reinstallation: We carefully decommissioned the existing solar panels from the shed roof and integrated them onto the new house roof. This shift ensures the panels are now positioned for optimal solar harvest, taking advantage of the main building's superior orientation.
System Optimization: Moving the array allowed us to refresh the mounting infrastructure and verify the health of every panel, ensuring the "recycled" array performs like new for the homeowners.
Precision Rewiring & Collaboration
This project involved far more than just solar. To ensure the electrical backbone of the property met the high standards of the design team, I personally oversaw the complete rewiring of both the house and the shed.
Architectural Integration: Working closely with the architects and builders, I executed a bespoke wiring plan that hides modern technology within the home’s aesthetic while providing maximum functional flexibility.
Compliance & Safety: Every circuit was designed and installed to exceed AS/NZS 3000 wiring standards, including dedicated sub-circuits for the shed to ensure it remains a high-performance workshop or storage space.
The Next Phase: Battery Storage
We are currently in active discussions with the owners to take this property to the next level of energy independence.
Future-Proofing: With the solar array now centrally located on the house, we are planning the integration of a high-capacity battery storage system.
Energy Resilience: Adding batteries will allow the household to capture the abundance of daytime solar energy and use it through the night, providing a buffer against rising energy costs and potential grid outages in the rural Mount Scanzi area.
Incentives: Under the NSW Peak Demand Reduction Scheme (PDRS) and the federal Cheaper Home Batteries Program (active as of July 1, 2025), there are now significant financial incentives available for residents looking to retrofit batteries to existing solar installations.

This project proves that solar isn't just a "set and forget" asset. It is a flexible tool that can grow alongside a business. By re-engineering the solar distribution, this brewery has protected itself against rising commercial energy tariffs while significantly lowering the carbon footprint of every pint.
Scaling the Craft: Expanding Solar Infrastructure for Brewery Growth
As the craft brewing industry evolves, energy demands often outpace original infrastructure. We recently spearheaded a complex electrical transition for a local brewery, strategically dividing a large-scale solar installation into two independent systems to power their expanding operations.
This strategic split ensures that as the brewery scales, their energy supply remains as consistent as their pour.
The Challenge: A Growing Footprint
With the addition of an attached building and an increase in production volume, the original single solar connection was no longer the most efficient way to distribute power. The facility required a more nuanced approach to handle two very different load profiles:
The Brewhouse: High-intensity, intermittent loads from electric kettles, pumps, and grain mills.
The New Expansion: Constant, high-demand "baseloads" required for refrigeration and climate control.
Two Dedicated Systems, One Sustainable Goal
By separating the solar array into two distinct installs, we have optimized the energy flow for maximum operational efficiency:
Dedicated Production Power: One system remains focused on the brewhouse, providing the raw 3-phase power needed for heavy brewing cycles.
The "Cold Chain" & HVAC System: The second system is now dedicated to the new building. This array is perfectly paired with the daytime energy spikes of industrial cool rooms and large-scale air conditioning, ensuring the finished product stays chilled using 100% renewable energy.
Why a System Split is Smarter for Business
Dividing commercial solar infrastructure offers several critical advantages for a growing brewery:
Load Balancing: By separating the refrigeration loads from the brewing equipment, we reduce the risk of voltage fluctuations that can interfere with sensitive brewing sensors.
Operational Redundancy: If one section of the plant requires maintenance, the other continues to harvest energy, ensuring that critical systems like cool rooms remain powered.
Granular Energy Tracking: The brewery can now accurately monitor the energy cost of production versus the energy cost of storage and hospitality, allowing for better business forecasting.
Regulatory Compliance: The expansion was designed to meet 2026 NSW Service and Installation Rules, ensuring all safety and grid-protection protocols are strictly followed for multiple points of supply.
